The VERY First DVD release: TWISTER by Jan de Bont was available in late 90s. The 4K was released this month July 2024 (more than 25 years later) and probably because of the sequel that is premiering this month on theaters. Many New movies get a 4k release several years later after the Bluray release. Hate streaming services😡. Oh! by the way that Two Brothers movie is awesome and I don't think there was no CGI on it with the Tigers which makes it more awesome. Worth watching it.😊

I think I may get the Twister steelbook. I think the green color is fine, but I wish it popped a little more. I do think the red would be a better choice. If I didn't already own Cocaine Bear I would get that steelbook. By the way, the first Saw movie is worth a watch (maybe around spooky season) but the rest are all just shock and gore. I love Weird Al and UHF so I might get that. I would upgrade a comedy movie if the transfer is better than Blu-ray, but other than that ...nope I don't have any Rocky movies (btw I think the 1st or the 4th are my favorite) so it might be worth it to get the collection. I'm definitely getting Ted Lasso on physical media. It's a steep price, so maybe I'll wait a while to buy. Season 4 of True Detective is not good...that's all I'll say Thanks for the new release updates!

Simply put Avery Brooks was selected for the job because he was the best man for the job. New trek positions were filled because they were the right color for the job

Hellraiser (2022) only got a DVD release here in the UK. It didn't get a physical release at all in the US.

I go for the DVD version when it is much cheaper or when there is simply no Blu-Ray version available. So still collecting DVDs as well. Bless them.

DS9 hit hard.. Admiral Leyton.. and his devolution into authoritarianism, catching everyone completely by surprise by inciting fear of changelings in Homefront. Or Calvin Hudson, in The Maquis, inspiring the great quote: "it's easy to be a saint in paradise." The perils of old alliances in The Way of the Warrior, to the risks of maintaining new ones, in Pail Moonlight and Inter Arma.. Dealing with homegrown terrorists in The Circle, Kira's series long redemption arc, the list goes on and on... can anyone even remember the plot points of Discovery?

There’s absolutely no way I can sit through a movie at 480p if it’s my first watch. You’re missing a way too much detail and diluting your experience. DVDs are fine for movies you’ve already seen and experienced properly the first time. Other than that, it’s a pretty outdated useless format. I can’t even remember the last time I watched, owned or purchased a DVD it’s been that long. It’s hard to even give these things away unless it’s bulk and a good selection.

Why is that streaming has quiet sound and I still think dvd and blu ray watching is better

because DS9 made an effort to resemble trek. whereas New Trek has went out of its way to stand apart.

Old trek had dialog that was professional and intelligent. Ocassional joking that fit right in. Discovery's dialog sounds like AI generated dialog using Tiktok and twitter as the source.

Surprised That The Movie Didn't Do Well Because The Tv Series Lasted 9 Seasons 😮

Not sure why this came up again, but great it did. Certainly the showrunners must have heard some of the critics because they rebooted it in season 3. It's probably a bit more positive, And you had some planetary episodes. Stormy Weather comes to mind. But in that episode sauru loses his fear and commits mutiny and tries to murder Burnham. What could be more absurd and ridiculous than having that episode? But Discovery has terrible writing. Basically you have characters have these short quips and then there's ridiculous action and then people cry and then you have another sentence and then it cuts somewhere else.

Being a dvd collector if I'm in the mood to watch a good thriller I'll just go to my dvd shelf and pop in silence of the lambs or seven and kick back and enjoy and it turns you into a film historian of sorts.

Depends on the film. Sometimes you don’t need amazing quality, especially if the film already looks good, or doesn’t have to look better. Dvd quality can be nostalgic. Flight of the Navigator is great. Have a lot of good memories of that

Yeah I don't know why anyone would buy the show on Blu-Ray without HDR, makes no sense. Buying something you aren't going to watch because streaming is much higher quality. Waste of money.

I enjoy watching older movies on dvd as the lower resolution makes it look more dated so it can sometimes feel more of its time which is nice.

A lot of the bluray stuff I have is very disappointing. For example I didn't like the colors of the "remaster" of Blade Runner at all. Lots of teal, used to be much more blue and colorful. They need to stop doing this to old movies..... and new movies too.

I was lucky in successfully pre-ordered Dune 2 4k Steelbook via Amazon, but it was $44.99. I have not made the jump to 4k yet, so I thought the steelbook option was the smart way to go when I do.

99.9 percent of my physical media collection is DVD. The only reason I have 1 single blu ray is because I movie I really loved was only released in bluray- I even had to buy a blu ray player just for that one movie haha. I HATE bluray cases, their color, their size, and their shape. Thats the main reason why I dont buy blurays.

Many movies I can only watch once or twice. $1 DVDs at thrift stores can be a great option for that. The theatrical cut of Amadeus (1984) never made it to Blu-ray or streaming, DVD only. Sometimes an out-of-print Blu-ray like Splash (1984) is extremely expensive, but the DVD is not.
